Rich Wetchler is the Owner and Chief Growth Officer of Impact Service Group, a National HVAC Facilities Management firm located in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Rich has been around the HVAC facility management business for his entire life as his father was an integral part of the success of Sure Air Ltd., the pioneers of National HVAC service management for multi-location properties.
Rich graduated from Oneonta University in 1989 with a Financial Management degree. After 9 months working in the accounting world, Rich threw away his pencils and calculator and started his first job in the facility management field as a District Manager with Sure Air. Throughout his 11 years with the company, Rich continued to expand upon his HVAC technical expertise and learn the different aspects of the business. Working his way through various positions within the company, Rich was ultimately promoted to Director of Customer Relations.
After Sure Air, he and Mark Benson (lifelong friend and work colleague) together opened Impact Service Group in 2002 with a sole focus on commercial HVAC management. For the past 23 years, with Mark focused on building the contractor network and Rich growing and managing the customer base and operations, the business has thrived. Even after 23 years, Rich and Mark are still best friends – most of the time!
When not working, Rich enjoys playing golf, the beach, traveling, and spending time with his wife and 3 children.
Mark Benson is the Owner and Chief Operating Officer of Impact Service Group, a National HVAC Facilities Management firm located in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Raised in Queens NY, he has been in HVAC facility management business his entire life. Back in 1966 his family opened a company named Sure Air Ltd. which later went on to pioneer the concept of National HVAC service management for multi-location properties. As early as high school, he worked as a service coordinator in support of account managers at the company, learning the nuances involved in the national service arena.
Mark graduated from Ithaca College in 1992 with a degree in Cultural and Biological Anthropology. Rather than pursuing his passion to become the next Indiana Jones, he chose instead to join his family in the equally exciting world of HVAC. Starting with a position in the mailroom, he moved from station to station and trained in all departments within the company to garner a comprehensive understanding of the business from all angles. In time, he was ultimately tasked with managing the ongoing development and cultivation of the network of HVAC contractors to execute repairs and maintenances for a vast list of growing retail clientele.
After Sure Air he teamed up with his lifelong friend and business peer, Richard Wetchler, whose father was also integral in the growth and success of the previous company. Together they opened Impact Service Group in 2002, to continue their passion in the field of national HVAC service management for multi-location commercial properties.
For the past 23 years, Mark has run the contractor network at Impact Service Group, working with thousands of independent HVAC contractors across the nation. They have been able to record positive financial growth each year, all while maintaining their friendship and sharing a lot of laughs along the way. They are tremendous advocates for their customers, encourage a respectful working environment for their staff, and remain actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company.
In his free time Mark enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing golf and softball, reading a constant stream of novels, and torturing his children by making them watch his favorite movies from the 80’s.
Clayton Callander is the President of Impact Service Group, a National HVAC Facilities Management firm located in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Clayton is new to the HVAC facility management business but knows his way around the equipment – his first job after college included operating two R-114 chill water systems on a US Navy Submarine.
Clayton graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2013 with a Naval Architecture degree, then specialized in nuclear engineering. After working in the US Submarine Force for 7 years, he went to Harvard Business School, graduating in 2021. His first job as a civilian was in corporate strategy at Avis Budget Group. After a year there, he was asked to run Atlanta operations at Flexcar, a vehicle subscription startup that Avis was the main investor in.
Sensing that there were cooler (pun intended) careers out there and wanting to get back to his engineering roots, Clayton moved to Impact Service Group, working with Rich and Mark to help build the company for the future. They are rapidly modernizing the company, moving systems to the cloud and integrating IoT devices to allow customers and vendors access to real-time equipment data.
In his free time, Clayton enjoys rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, and generally spending time away from a computer screen
